Our 2020 campaign was a huge success, despite my pregnancy and a tremendously scary year facing Covid - we weren't able to have any volunteers as a result of the virus - so our entire team consisted of me - my 74 year old mom, my dad who is 79, my husband, who is self-employed and was only able to help the week of Christmas - and our awesome ten year old son, Kaedin.
We had a wonderful experience working with the The Little Servant Sisters of The Immaculate Conception whose Edmund Early Education school collected donations for the kids of Project Christmas, despite the fact that their school was closed to the public and they couldn't hold a Giving Tree.
We ended up bringing in so many donations that we took up one 25'x30' outdoor unit, one 15'x25' outdoor unit and one 20'x15' outside unit that were COMPLETELY full by the time pickups and deliveries started. These units cost a total of $2200 a month from Nov-January. For the second year, we had to keep one of the 15'x25' units all year to contain items donated after the distribution in December 2021. We moved all of the additional clothing donations to our home, to sort and keep them stored until distribution for 2021. The Evans family paid for the cost of these units.
We managed to take care of 19 families that were sponsored (fully assisted in all categories), and we also were able to provide gifts for the kids of the additional 28 families who were on our standby list.
We delivered thirteen full sized and six miniature Christmas trees to families in need - provided holiday decorations and household items for more than two dozen families who needed them, as well as filled one HUGE storage unit full of clothing and gifts that we distributed to the families in need.
In the month after Christmas, we 46 boxes of clothing that we packed for the families who needed them.
